Last week Room 4 went crazy finding, writing and using the prefix dis-.
Charlotte was an inspiration with her list of 114 words.
We made a word chain using dis- words.
This week we are learning about the suffix -est that goes at the end of some words.
What does -est do to a root word?
Your challenge this week is to post a blog comment that shows a root word and the word when -est has been added to the end. What do you notice?
Here is my example:
fast fastest We use fastest to compare different speedy objects.
We are a class of Year 3 and 4 students keen to learn and striving to be the best we can be. Tauriko School is a small rural school on the outskirts of Tauranga and this is our place in the world.

Mysteries Galore!
Last week we were exploring and investigating science mysteries.
We learned about making observations of facts and then using our facts to make inferences.
It certainly got our brains buzzing ...
Post a comment on the blog to explain your ideas or experiences with the Mystery Science Box. What would scientists say about what we were learning?

Once upon a Brown Bear ...
In Room 4 we are learning to identify and use the features of a narrative. As part of our literacy work we have been writing 6 sentence narratives by following criteria ... a whole story in 6 sentences, amazing!
Now we are going to write a 6 sentence narrative about our dear friend Brown Bear.
I'll start with the first sentence, however if someone posts a better sentence I'll swap it.
Once upon a time there was an adventurous bear cub called Brown Bear . (Now follow the criteria to post a comment for the second sentence and I'll post the most interesting one. Remember it's an imaginative story.)

Taylor was our Mighty Maths Maintenance man today. He worked out 10 problems for us to solve and then did a great job of marking it as well. It's great to see people having a go and taking some risks. Have you been inspired by our classmates? Leave a comment about Taylor's maths or explain what you would like to teach the class.

Ben R teaching Maths
Look who was teaching Mighty Maths Maintenance in Room 4 this morning! Ben had to prepare 10 questions that would help us practise our strategies and he did a fantastic job. He was great at asking for ideas from the class, giving praise and only asking people sitting quietly with their hand up.
Well done Ben - I think you might be after my job!
You can post a comment to give Ben some quality feedback.
